If Quantock Lakes looks like the perfect venue for you, or if you have already secured a date with us, then it’s likely you have some questions. We have put together a list of the most frequently asked questions about our DIY Farmhouse Weddings for you to refer to and read at your leisure.
DIY FARMHOUSE WEDDING

The standard package includes up to 18 people in total, including the couple. You may add up to 12 additional staying guests in our designated Self-Catered Apartments & Studios, subject to availability, taking the maximum wedding party to 30 people. There are no additional day guests, evening guests or visitors.

Yes. You can add designated Self-Catered Apartments & Studios for guests beyond the 18 staying in the Farmhouse. All additional accommodation must be booked for both nights. No other Quantock Lakes accommodation can be added to this package.

The designated accommodation is Posh Pig, Gloucester Old Spot, Saddleback Sty and Wagon Wheel studios, each sleeping up to 2 people, plus Paddocks, a 2-bedroom ensuite apartment sleeping up to 4 people.

Each studio sleeping up to 2 people is £400 for the full two-night stay (£200 per night). Paddocks has 2 ensuite bedrooms sleeping up to 4 people and is £800 for the two-night stay. The charge applies for the full accommodation unit regardless of whether every bed is used.

No. All additional Self-Catered Apartments & Studios must be booked for the full two-night stay, and additional guests must stay in that accommodation.

Up to 12 additional staying guests, taking the total wedding party to 30 people including the couple, subject to the designated Self-Catered Apartments & Studios being available.

The Farmhouse sleeps up to 18 guests across 8 ensuite bedrooms, including one family room with 2 bedrooms sleeping up to 4 people.

The Farmhouse dining room seats up to 22 people with our blue velvet dining chairs. If you have 23–30 people dining together, we use Chiavari event chairs instead, allowing everyone to be seated in the Farmhouse dining room.

No. The Farmhouse sleeps up to 18 people. Any additional guests must stay in the Self-Catered Apartments & Studios included in your booking.

Your DIY Farmhouse Wedding includes a 2 night stay in the Farmhouse, checking in from 4pm on the day before your ceremony.

The standard package includes two nights in the Farmhouse for up to 18 people, the bridal preparation area, hot tub and sauna, your ceremony in the Rustic Barn, a member of our team to operate ceremony music, and dedicated Farmhouse parking. Additional Self-Catered Apartments & Studios are charged separately.

The DIY Farmhouse Wedding does not include catering, drinks, wedding planning, wedding coordination, styling, waiting staff, bar staff or an evening reception. It also does not include access to Quantock Barn or Meadow Barn.

Yes. The DIY Farmhouse Wedding is designed as a DIY and self-catering wedding. You are welcome to bring your own food and drink, arrange takeaways, prepare grazing boards, bring your own cake or cook together in the Farmhouse.

Yes. Private chefs and caterers must be approved by Quantock Lakes in advance and may be asked to provide relevant insurance, food hygiene and risk assessment information.

Yes. You are welcome to provide your own drinks for your celebration in the Farmhouse.

No. Amplified music is not permitted at the Farmhouse. The DIY Farmhouse Wedding is designed to be a relaxed, intimate celebration rather than a traditional evening wedding reception.

Non-amplified live music may be possible but must be agreed with Quantock Lakes in advance.

Only people included in your booking may attend. Anyone over the 18 staying in the Farmhouse must also be booked to stay for both nights in the designated Self-Catered Apartments & Studios. There is no option for extra day guests, evening guests or visitors.

Genuine professional suppliers attending solely to provide a service do not count towards the maximum of 30. This may include your photographer, videographer, florist, private chef, hair and make-up artist, registrar or celebrant.

No. The DIY Farmhouse Wedding does not include access to Quantock Barn or Meadow Barn.

No. Your booking includes the Farmhouse, any additional Self-Catered Apartments & Studios you have booked and your agreed ceremony access to the Rustic Barn. Other areas of Quantock Lakes may be in use during your stay.

Yes. You and your booked guests may access the lake pontoon through the Farmhouse car park during daylight hours only, at your own discretion and risk. Please take care near the water and supervise children at all times. Access to the wider wedding venue is not included.
YOUR CEREMONY

Your wedding or vow renewal ceremony takes place in our Rustic Barn.

The timings are flexible and can be adjusted to suit your booked ceremony time, subject to availability and agreement with Quantock Lakes. For example, for a 1.30pm ceremony, you would have access to the Rustic Barn from 11am to add your own personal touches, with registrars arriving at 1pm and the ceremony taking place at 1.30pm. If you book a different ceremony time, the access and ceremony timings will shift accordingly while following the same overall format.

Yes. You will have access from 11am (based on a 1.30pm ceremony time) on your wedding day to add your own personal touches, subject to our usual decoration and safety requirements.

After your ceremony, you head straight back to the Farmhouse to continue your celebrations. Rustic Barn access ends at 2.30pm (based on a 1.30pm ceremony time)

No. The Rustic Barn is included for your ceremony only and is not available for a drinks reception, wedding breakfast or evening celebration.

No. Food, drinks and your celebrations take place back at the Farmhouse.

Yes. You will need to book and pay for your registrar directly. Registrar or celebrant fees are not included in the DIY Farmhouse Wedding price.

We provide the sound system and a member of the Quantock Lakes team will operate your ceremony music. You will need to provide 1 walk-in track, 3 tracks for signing the register and 1 walk-out track. The tracks must be available as downloadable Spotify tracks.

You will need to email planning@quantockevents.co.uk with your supplier contact details, confirmed ceremony time and ceremony music choices.
BOOKING & PAYMENT

DIY Farmhouse Weddings can only be booked within six months of the wedding date and are subject to late availability.

The standard package is £3,600 for two nights and up to 18 people in the Farmhouse. Additional studios sleeping up to 2 are £400 each for both nights. Paddocks sleeps up to 4 across 2 ensuite bedrooms and is £800 for both nights.

A £1,800 booking deposit is required to secure your date.

The remaining £1,800 Farmhouse balance, the £750 refundable damage deposit and any additional Self-Catered Apartments & Studios charges are due one month before your wedding.

Yes. A £750 refundable damage deposit is payable with your final payment. Provided no deductions are required, it will be returned within 7 days of your departure.

If you cancel, the £1,800 booking deposit is non-refundable, subject to your statutory rights. Any remaining balance or additional accommodation charges already paid will be refunded, together with the £750 damage deposit if your stay does not take place.

You may add up to 12 additional staying guests in the designated Self-Catered Apartments & Studios, taking your total to 30 including the couple, subject to availability. If your numbers exceed 30, please ask about our traditional Quantock Lakes wedding offering.

No. Our traditional weddings include a much wider venue experience, catering, drinks, planning, coordination and our full wedding team. This is a separate DIY, self-catered celebration centred on the Farmhouse.

Couples who want something small, relaxed and personal. It can work beautifully for intimate weddings, second weddings, vow renewals or couples who simply do not want a large traditional wedding.

No. The DIY Farmhouse Wedding is intentionally a late-availability offering and can only be booked within six months of the wedding date.
